It's another year of me aging.
I hope gracefully so. And in honor of my previous list of "25 things I learned by 25,"
I have decided to revise and introduce 26 ADULT things that I rediscovered at 26. Why you ask? Simply because I love to learn and I love to list stuff.
So let me also clear up that my birthday was truly the 12th of June, so I am late to this post, but let's be real: when a baby is born, you celebrate just about every day in that same month—even more.
So happy birthday to me! Let me also add that oh how time flies because instantly I'm transported to last June, and I am in awe as to how quickly my birthday has arrived again. I want to thank the Lord, my only keeper, and let's get right into it.
1. Save your money and have your money separated for specific purposes. Let the doctor's fee remain just that; the school fund should fund only school, and future savings shouldn't always be used for the immediate future.
2. Adults won't always value friendships, and at times it stems from the whole 'friends will kill you' mentality.
3. The timetable for marriage shouldn't be set by society or outsiders of that relationship but solely based on mutual agreement.
4. A young mother isn't always better or more prepared than a mother considered mature in age.
5. Often times, you think you're forgettable, but you're likely memorable.
6. A Christian and non-Christian friendship is possible but both hard to maintain. And someone is going to be hurt. And yet true Christian friends are just as hard to find
7. When the same thing doesn't work out several times in different ways, it's not always a sign to quit but to wait.
8. Unless you're fortunate enough to live in a first-world country and have stable-income parents or you'll get an inheritance. Most young people don't have it all together in their twenties where a house, car, and job aspect is concerned.
9. More than likely, everyone has some sickness or condition that ails them.
10. Moving out early promotes independence and discipline. Living with parents for past teen years can both foster love and hate.
11. We are sexual beings, but we are more than just our sexuality.
12. Don't take a loan if your pay will drastically decrease by more than 10 percent once the loan payment is deducted. Don't take an underpaying job with a loan.
13. Changing jobs is fine. As long as your taxes and benefits are being paid.
14. Independently acquired health insurance is best.
15. There is no limit to when you can study or even change careers.
16. Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur in the same breadth; not everyone can manage and settle with a 9-5 or a stereotypical career.
17. Trends like 'self care' and 'soft life' are paradoxical at times. Many people care about their outer selves, neglect other beneficial growth practices, and claim simplicity through luxuriousness, not simple living.
18. Someone can claim to love you simply because you have good characteristics or traits but are intimidated by you, and instead of displaying a steady 'love," they send conflicting signals.
20. Life really is for living, but it's important to consider what you want to live for.
21. Self-introspection is crucial to development.
22. Not everyone values what you value, and even if they pretend to, eventually the pretense will fade away.
23. There really is a thin line between love and hate.
24. Sour grapes are real. A person will hate what you do, believe, wear, and stand for simply because they themselves cannot attain it.
25. A person will tell themselves every day the nicest things they would love to believe and hear from others, and they use it to alleviate what they are going through, but the problem still remains.
26. Tough times reveal tough people, as well as people who are willing to switch roles. Meaning the rough days when you need a companion after being the tower of strength will reveal to you who is willing to be tough for you also.
Guess whatttt because this is the year of winning and beacuse I love to write too muchh here are 6 more bonus truths for turning 26!!
27. If anything in life is truly yours, set it free, and definitely, if it comes back, it's meant for to be. Even when the afflictions we see repeat themselves, we may ask, "Why?" Reign check, you never passed the test and have to go again.
28. Some bridges have to be burned in order to gain peace of mind. Not every place in the past needs to be revisited.
29. We often don't want to sweat the small stuff, yet often times we always sweat the small stuff because it's the fine details that stick out in an almost perfect picture.
30. Contentment is a state of mind. If your mind refuses, your body follows.
31. Problems coexist in every form of happiness. There is no sunshine without rain. It's more than just pessimism; it's the reality that we live on a flawed planet and that we are flawed people.
32. Opposition can turn in one's favor, but without opposition, you need a bit more backstory and credibility. In which war does the enemy plot against a complete stranger?
33. People do have skeletons and things that they don't want out, simply because we are fallible and our own consciousness judges our own selves (harshly so) before mankind does.
So my onlookers, supporters and viewers I appreciate all of you for tuning in and remember this is the year to conquer and to defend. Till the next post I'm your girl Nika Gem!
Scripture References
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.
