The End of an Era
I am thinking of changing the name of this blog. I started writing because I wanted to share my life experiences through Christ while being "The Gem Mind."
Meaning of the name Gem Mind—The 'rare' mind, not easily understood and unique. In this context, it's different because of the experiences I've had as a Christian.
I am still trying to remain in Christ; however, I wonder if I should merge the same basis of my podcast into my blog. "Addressing the matters of the mind, body, and soul so we can bloom and learn to become whole".
The Whole Woman Podcast.
My podcast talks about mentally, physically, and spiritually pressing issues that affect growth.

I have never felt like I met the 'standard' of what a Christian should be. And I know that's crazy, even saying it, because our standard should be Christ and drawn from the Bible. But there's this thing in life where man-made criteria come into play, and people use them to perpetuate them unto others.
"You're not in the choir, you don't preach/teach, you're not an usher, and you don't have family in ministry?"
You could have the desire; you could have the hope even, but with no action, you're simply seen as the next sister/brother who 'comes to church.'
I'm not saying you shouldn't serve
I'm not saying you shouldn't be willing.
I'm saying everything should be authentic...
I'm also saying there are spaces that don't have spaces for you.
Now, in my opinion, which may not be the best, I don't believe in performing to conform.
I've already been on both sides, where I've exhausted myself to the point where I had no outside life (albeit I did so willingly and with zeal).
And then I had succumbed to a routine (literally) where I no longer felt I had to squeeze in somewhere so people would know I was a Christian.
And don't forget to check out my blog post.
So the introspection is, are you even doing this good?
You who never had a seat at the table either ways.
And maybe this is a distraction. Why change the name when you've explained the purpose behind it?
But then I counter myself: Is this even a 'ministry,' or is this a way in which I heal myself and pretend that even if I don't physically do something, behind the scenes, I have a page with a name and a aim, admittedly one that people rarely discover?
I even had a page on Instagram and Facebook if we want to be real honest, that I stopped posting on in real time.
Speaking of discoveries, that too is not my aim. I created my podcast with no promotion, no visuals, just my voice and a cheap mic, and I've had a few viral moments (according to my standards), and I think, what if I really did try?
So I am not people-seeking, but wholeheartedly, would any good Christian come across my words and say, "I'm blessed"? or "I see what you're trying to do", and why is that a concern?
I have gotten feedback about my blog before, where people say "insightful," "motivational," "funny," and "well written," but what about the "shamma mamas and reboshah"? Why doesn't it give that?
And see, this is what I mean when I say I am not the standard cause. Why would I make a joke right now???
But seriously, I wonder if I am simply placing myself in a box I never belonged in.
Sure, ministries are for different purposes, and no two 'ministers' speak the same, but am I fooling myself? Is the name really accurate, or should I just relax and tell my truth—all my truths?
How do 26 things I learned at 26 bring you to Christ, or how do love languages and single people reaffirm singleness and purpose?
Look, I'm not here to say I don't have some serious, thought-provoking, Christ inspired, topics on here.
But all I'm saying is should 'the Gem Mind through Christ' rest and the Whole Woman take residence?
I will always be a servant of God. I am contending to be so, but there's something telling me to revamp and go with 'the whole woman.'
Because as innovative and creative as I am, I am still learning to be a whole woman, a whole Christian woman at that.
Do you want to see that journey, or do I continue with an illusion of what everyone, myself included, thought I should have been?
What name do you prefer?

Scripture references
Romans 12 vs 3-5: (NLT)
Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
Colossians 3 vs 23-24 NLT
23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
